About Veronica Bejarano-Malone | Arizona District 22 Candidate

Veronica Bejarano-Malone is a lifelong Arizona public servant, educator, wife, and mother who has dedicated her life to fighting for working families and stronger communities.

Raised in Avondale, Veronica experienced hardship early in life. After losing both of her parents by the age of seven, she spent time in foster care until her sister Jessica turned 18 and became her guardian. Her family helped guide her through the challenges that shaped her resilience, compassion, and commitment to serving others.

Veronica has spent her career in education and public service because she believes every child deserves opportunity, support, and a quality education regardless of their ZIP code. She has served in roles with the Tolleson Elementary School District, Arizona State University, and currently works in the Littleton Elementary School District. Her work has focused on helping schools and teachers succeed through online curriculum support, state funding initiatives, and national education programs including President Obama’s Race to the Top initiative.

Public service has always been Veronica’s calling. She proudly served eight years on the Avondale City Council, including two years as Vice Mayor, where she fought for safer streets, stronger neighborhoods, and investments that improved quality of life for local families. She currently serves as Chair of the Southwest Valley Democrats Club, where she continues organizing and advocating for Democratic values across Arizona’s West Valley and Legislative District 22 communities.

During her time on the council, Veronica helped advance critical safety and infrastructure improvements including new HAWK traffic signals on Avondale Boulevard and Central Avenue, new turn lanes and sidewalks in neighborhoods like Rio Vista and Las Ligas, and investments in community parks including Friendship Park, Festival Fields, Donnie Hale Park, Mountain View Park, and Avondale’s newest park, Alamar.

Veronica believes government should work for everyday people — not just special interests — and that investing in neighborhoods is investing in families.

Veronica is running for Arizona Legislative District 22 because she believes Arizona families deserve leaders who understand their daily struggles and will stand up for public education, affordable housing, safe neighborhoods, economic opportunity, and equal access to opportunity. Veronica thoroughly enjoys the community aspect of city politics and seeks to keep the people as her focus as she seeks elected office in a different area of politics.

She knows that many decisions made at the Capitol feel disconnected from the realities facing working families, teachers, seniors, and young people across the district.

Veronica believes leadership means bringing people together, listening to the community, and delivering real results. Throughout her career, she has built a reputation as a collaborative, solutions-focused leader who stands firmly for fairness, inclusion, respect, and opportunity for every family in Arizona.
